THE BEAUTY OF EASE OF REST AND MOTION
The beauty of a work of art may be re-conceived, though its first material expression be destroyed
A vanished harmony may be regained again.
If you are striving for Harmony here is a glimpse on how to turn on some of ‘forgotten’ prenatal skills.
Join us, and we will introduce you to the ultimate ease of rest and motion.
Sometimes the exit is where the entrance was
Sometimes, when we wish to reach new level, it is necessary to return to the starting point.
Therefore, we will take you for the short journey back to the fundamentals of being.
We shall evoke our innate memories, revive a forgotten heritage, and sharpen our unused senses.
We will show you the point where physical meets emotional in perfect balance.
This speck of light, might appear a ray powerful enough to turn gray into picturesque.
The major indicator of adaptation to the environment is the way species move around.
Although humans are cruising through outer space, still we are on quest for ultimate ease of motion.
For that purpose it is essential to determine the optimal level of force to begin and maintain movement.
Prior to this, one must be aware of the minimum energy needed to stay motionless.
For moving we have a vast array of terrestrial choices: earth, water and atmosphere.
Out of these three, the best medium to achieve relaxation, and to move through, is water.
Life begins in water, and depends on it.
In terms of evolution, the Mammals with humans at its pinnacle, are still tied to water.
A few members of the family (dolphins, whales) have remained in water, in perfect adaptation to it.
From conception until birth humans are surrounded by water.
In mother’s womb it is water that provides full protection.
Literally, humans are swimmers before birth, or more precisely: water-beings adapted to life on earth.
For us humans, the Evolution has ordered exclusively rear extremities for moving around.
While the benefits of the upright body posture are many, there is a price to be paid for such a privilege.
The force that ties us to earth is gravity that inevitably affects the same pressure lines through our bodies.
We are not aware of its permanent and overwhelming influence, until bad effects accumulate over time.
This could lead to unpleasant and sometimes painful malformations of the musculoskeletal system.
Accountable for providing weight, gravity is the force that obstructs free movement of bodies and objects.
A body or an object moves ideally (easily) when released of its weight.
Conditions to offset gravity have only been met experimentally or in outer space.
However it is very simple to defy and almost neutralize the impact of gravity in our immediate habitat.
Perfect examples are flying and floating objects (in the air and in the water).
The key to that is the density of gases & liquids.
Density is the major feature that accounts for the fact that air and water can ‘absorb’ the weight of objects.
Ideally the weight is fully suspended by surrounding air or water.
This physical phenomenon is called levitation (airborne objects), and floating (buoyant objects).
Both a flyer and a floater feel ‘weightlessness’, or that gravity no longer exists from their vantage point.
They, in effect, succeeded in defying it.
Water is approximately 800 times denser than dry air, and ~70% of body mass in humans consists of water.
This is why it is a unique natural medium for us to achieve weightlessness, without using force of any kind.
The benefits are obvious: bones and joints are released of constant pressure, and muscles are loosened.
Pausing the daily wear and tear of ‘mechanical’ body-parts brings relaxation to the nervous system as well.
Mastering the skill could prevent some medical conditions that would otherwise require radical treatment.
This is the basic value of this method: to establish the simplest natural way to full relaxation.
As the hardest thing to achieve by effort is ease, our intent is to cut energy consumption to the minimum.
Motionless is the focal point of the method at this initial, basic or introductory level.
Method advances to its second phase comprising elements of motion and moving.
As an upgrade to the basic idea, the method determines the most harmonious ways of moving in water.
Here, the focus is on efficiency of movement through the optimal use of physical strength.
Methodological variations are twofold and cover every basic swimming style.
The first is intended to help professional competitors, to further improve their efficiency.
The other one is more general and more important aiming to help basic motor functions in a simplest and the most natural way.
One very special variation is a direct way to instructing beginners Butterfly (Dolphin) style.
For moving people use skills & force combined.
Human physical force is negligible compared to the opposing forces emanating from the environment.
So the level of adaptation to environmental conditions is the major determinant of the quality of motion.
Optimal movement spares physical power, and recreates it without exhausting its author.
The method fully eliminates need for physical action, until body acts as extended part of water surface.
‘Relieved’ of its weight, the body feels that any motion is superfluous, and would spoil the graceful balance.
The progressions to extreme positions are simple to understand and easy to perform.
The mind recognizes, and body feels peak points, readjusts itself, and eventually acquires the optimum state.
Only after this stage is achieved, is gradual use of force allowed to convey perfectly motionless body to a uniform movement.
The criteria to measure the skill’s efficiency are simple and consistent.
Hence, a devoted student would not proceed to the next element, before previous one is acquired and tested.
The instruction is over, once student is capable to evaluate personal performance.
Until this point, coach is in water next to the student, to teach by example and to prevent mistakes.
Based on experience, a conscientious student would need personal assistance only for the first 3 to 5 hours.
After that a supervised instruction gives way to self-sufficient training.
The final goal of the method is the ultimate adaptation to aquatic environment.
While motionless – targets are extreme floatability and sinkability.
In motion – it is the optimal use of force that provides the most effective way of moving.
The most important value of mastering these skills is prophylactic.
In a word – it is a complete natural solution to the problem of recovery from all types of fatigue.
A balanced system of Relaxation, Rest & Recovery is a must for high quality of all life functions.
